i spent this beautiful first day of may planting flowers with my mom and enjoying my little furry ones. my mom did a great job helping me make our apartment cozy. i owe her one!

spring's little surprises

i rescued some flowers this week. i found some lost branches outside while i was walking ruby. it's nice to have some little blooms in unexpected places around the apartment.

lights up my day

i had the most amazing valentine's day. from the moment i got home from work i was showered with loads of pink and yellow tulips, love notes, and the gift of LIGHT! since we moved into our place in july our home still needs some finishing touches here and there. as a valentine gift to each other ryan and i picked up the most amazing mid-century, 1960's martz lamp. both gordon and jane martz, a married couple, were artists known for their work mixing ceramic and wood. we love it and it completes a little nook in the livingroom.



we then headed out to dinner to one of my favorite restaurants, the continental. late night we snuggled on the sofa and watched amelie! ahhh, perfect!

a california favorite

so i'm back from styling free people's look book in palm springs and their catalog at joshua tree, but there's one thing i always miss when i leave california... the full and lush succulents and beautiful pottery. here are some of the beautiful combinations i spotted during our shoot outside of the mojave sands hotel in joshua tree.

peonies and smores

i picked up the most scrumptious pink peonies this week for a shoot i did with free people. lucky us we got to divide all the flowers at the end of the shoot and take some home. peonies are my absolute favorite bloom.

also, i wanted to share this amazing smores recipe i found while browsing all my favorite blogs. the result is a warm, chocolaty, gooey marshmallow confection. you must try it!

i haven't baked in a while and it was great to get back into it especially now that the holidays are approaching. do you have any favorite baking recipes? we love trying new ones!

our first christmas

this is our first christmas together in our new home and ryan has been doing everything to make it special. we picked our tree from a lot by our apartment, sang to christmas carols, and decorated the tree with a mix of vintage ornaments and miniature planes ryan has been collecting. i think our first tree came out pretty great.

enchanted fall day

this weekend we walked dugan through what looked like an enchanted forest. the weather, surroundings, and curious lab i was with made for a perfect day!
