lights up my day

i had the most amazing valentine's day. from the moment i got home from work i was showered with loads of pink and yellow tulips, love notes, and the gift of LIGHT! since we moved into our place in july our home still needs some finishing touches here and there. as a valentine gift to each other ryan and i picked up the most amazing mid-century, 1960's martz lamp. both gordon and jane martz, a married couple, were artists known for their work mixing ceramic and wood. we love it and it completes a little nook in the livingroom.



we then headed out to dinner to one of my favorite restaurants, the continental. late night we snuggled on the sofa and watched amelie! ahhh, perfect!

this is a cute little book of illustrations honoring two beautiful cities with kitchy, comparative cliches. one city is a love of my life and the other i hope to see some day soon. here are my favorite pages...

weekend happenings worth mentioning

this weekend was great. we had alot of fun! although it was snowy, we didn't let it ruin our time!

i just wanted to share one of my favorite brunch places in philadelphia; green eggs cafe. i had the vegan banana pancakes! they were so good ryan helped me finish them all gone.


also we headed over to a good friend, ryan beck's, artist studio. i love his abstract paintings. i feel like they are perfect for open spaces and my livingroom:)

somewhere unknown

i got some nail art today. i was inspired by the nail art in the spring runway shows and have always been enamored of the evil eye. i believe in its protection by watching over you. i think they turned out really well.

heading to greece for work tomorrow, so i won't be posting for a week or so. i will be styling our december catalog on the island of santorini. photos when i return!

popping up everywhere

i had fun playing with flowers this weekend. they seemed to work everywhere. i filled some vintage vases and even strung some tiny roses to decorate our new wall accessory.

brunchin'

brunch is one of my favorite meals. now that i'm living in northern liberties we have our pick of many brunch spots just a few blocks away. a quick walk through the neighbohood and my friend and i ended up at north third.


we each got a portobello egg white omelet and shared the chocolate bread pudding for dessert.

you inspire me, spring

here are a few things that caught my eye this week and have me wanting more.

i'm always a sucker for turquoise in the warm months. i just picked up the ring on the left at a local motorcycle shop. i can't get enough.


my view at the navy yard... i love watching the ships pass by. there are times i have to remind myself we are still in philadelphia.

we went bowling for a friend's birthday. i actually wanted to keep the shoes for once.


the weekend ended with ice cream in the setting sun. it felt like the perfect week to kick off an amazing summer.

brooklyn: part 2

we got up late the next morning and had brunch at baci & abbraci. you will love everything if you have a chance to go. i had the margherita pizza with a sunny side up egg in the middle (what???) ... dunking the crispy crust in the egg was heaven!!



we all shared nutella bites for dessert.


after we made a quick stop for the brooklyn museum, because you always have to stop in. the back exhibit was about a new york man's quest to try every pizza in new york. yes, more pizza!



off to one of my favorite places for vintage textiles, stella dallas, where i scooped up this colorful navajo rug. i think i have the perfect place for it, but then again you never know.


i had a great time celebrating my friend's birthday and seeing as much of brooklyn as i could get in. it was an amazing weekend.
