cake and champagne

go perfect together just like susan and ryan. my good friend, susan, is getting married next saturday and a bunch of us went over to her apartment wednesday evening for one last night of pre wedding girl talk and bubbly. nights like these are so precious to me. i hope we always have these get togethers to catch up, eat some good food and toast to friends.

last weekend's happenings

last weekend was fun and relaxing at the same time. ryan and i spent a lot of time together. we really didn't venture out to meet friends and it was really nice.

on friday night we tried an amazing mexican restaurant called xochitl. we died and went to food heaven. they have a tequila bar that mixed some of the tastiest margaritas and for a starter we munched on made-to-order guacamole accompanied by the most amazing salty, crispy, air-like, toasted chips i ever did taste. that could have been my dinner, but i did try one of their dishes that they made vegan just for me:) i love this place!


we also got our 1960's barcelona chairs steamed cleaned this weekend and they came out beautiful and sparkly! i couldn't stop looking at them the entire day. the pale yellow color alone puts a smile on my face.


we ended the weekend with a stroll through penn's landing. the weather is starting to get nicer in philadelphia and we needed the fresh air and boat lit water to refresh us from the winter doldrums. it worked wonders.

gettin' our marni on

my friend, emma, and i ran over to the marni for h&m craziness to see what we could find and came back pretty successful. we got there around 7am and waited in line until the store opened at 8. we loved how super organized h&m has gotten with their collaborations. the system gave everyone a chance to buy something from the collection... as long as they were there early enough! i walked away with the black and brown striped leggings, short sleeved men's cashmere sweater and the black sequin collar and decided to wear them all at once today:) ha! anyway, whether we found anything or not the giddiness of the experience was a lot of fun!

birthdayyyyy

i just wanted to share the birthday of someone really special to me. yesterday was ryan's birthday and we celebrated all day even if we couldn't be together. in the morning i surprised him with a card, gift, chocolate chip whoopie pie (YUM) and a birthday serenade. we went to dinner that night to pizzaria stella in queen village for brick oven pizza and cold beers. it was just what he wanted and hopefully he enjoyed it as much as i did. happy birthday, ryannnnn!!!!

lights up my day

i had the most amazing valentine's day. from the moment i got home from work i was showered with loads of pink and yellow tulips, love notes, and the gift of LIGHT! since we moved into our place in july our home still needs some finishing touches here and there. as a valentine gift to each other ryan and i picked up the most amazing mid-century, 1960's martz lamp. both gordon and jane martz, a married couple, were artists known for their work mixing ceramic and wood. we love it and it completes a little nook in the livingroom.



we then headed out to dinner to one of my favorite restaurants, the continental. late night we snuggled on the sofa and watched amelie! ahhh, perfect!
