back to brooklyn

i haven't been to brooklyn in a while and i missed it so much. the flea markets, cafes, vintage shopping, and people watching are so captivating.
our main goal today was to hit the brooklyn flea market in williamsburg.we walked away with a few things... a vintage navajo blanket in muted colors, an old bottle opener, a vintage bag, and some snacks from some of the many yummy food vendors.

i think the strangest thing was walking away with a bag that i already had except a lot more worn. the vendor thought i was crazy when i asked to trade, but i finally got my perfectly worn in, brown leather coach bag and i love it!

after the flea market we met my friend, leigh, for a late lunch at rabbit hole cafe and some more shopping at some other local vintage spots.

we had such a great time. i need to visit a lot more.

flea markets and brunch

we spent the morning rummaging tables at the golden nugget flea market.

then headed to lovin' oven in frenchtown, nj for brunch. we shared the curry corn chowder, breakfast burrito, and challah french toast with strawberry compote and honey vanilla cream cheese drizzles.

and ate all of it:)

sunday morning goodness

stopped for a peppermint mocha coffee, one of my favorite holiday indulgences

and then headed to the golden nugget flea market. it was freezing, but i managed to find some fun turquoise.

i think the vendors are better in the summer, but it was still fun to walk around. people were really anxious to sell their goods, because it was so cold. i got all of my rings for half off.

guess where i'm going...

i was asked to go on the next photo shoot to assist in the styling for free people's september catalog. i can't say much about the shoot, but from the photos can you guess where we are heading?

THE UK!!!

in my opinion the uk is the mecca of fashion and trend setting! it has been my dream to go back now that i am old enough to appreciate all of its beauty.

the agenda: day one we will be scouting the area for the perfect spots for our shoot to take place. the next three days we will be shooting one of our most exciting catalogs. the fourth and fifth days we are heading to london to shop the spitalfields, brick lane, and portabello flea markets! i will be taking tons of photos to document our trip to share with you! we leave monday and will return the following monday. ahhhhh... can't wait!

what will i take??

vintage shopping in rome

rome was wonderful! one of my favorite things to do there was visiting their outdoor markets for great jewelry and vintage clothes!! i found some amazing pieces i am bringing into the store and wanted to share some of my favorite vintage spots with you.

the best outdoor market in rome was the the san giovanni flea market. there are tons of vendors and they even open during the week. we spotted a beautifully stocked vintage dealer there were i bought most of the vintage i am bringing in. i even picked up a beautiful floral, embroidered tablecloth for me!

another day we visited some vintage shops tucked inside piazza navona. this is the heart of the capitol's antiques and used clothing scene. small vintage shops are hidden along the winding brick roads. most had that dark, cluttered feel, so i didn't take many pictures. what was mesmerizing to me were the old italian leather bags, embroidered dresses and colorful boots.

if you are planning on visiting rome stop in and see me. i'd love to share all my favorite spots with you more in detail!
